We just spent 8 years on the war on terror. I think it's time we start focusing elsewhere. Will we be attacked? You bet. Will it be unfortunate? Yes. But at some point you have to look at this as a resource allocation problem. If we let our economy continue to struggle while chasing down every whack-job with flammable underpants, then we lose. We need to stay vigilant, but not at the expense of everything else.

The fear-mongering from the Republicans is old. I'm afraid that dog don't hunt any more. (Look at the polls showing how many people think the new TSA rules are stupid.) If that's the plan for the grand revival, I guess I'll start planning on going to Obama's second inauguration.

By the way, I heard Obama do something today that I never heard Bush do in 8 years; unequivocably own up to a screw up. He said, "Ultimately the buck stops with me. As president, I have a solemn responsibility to protect our nation and our people, and when the system fails, it is my responsibility."
