One of our TDD readers sent me this link from Tony Dungy's organization, All-Pro Dads. The accompanying video is a sober reminder of how important it is to value every day we have with those we love. This is a must-watch. (I'll provide further commentary after you all have had a chance to watch it.)
UPDATE: The key thing I wanted to add concerning this gripping video is that one can see a stark contrast between those who hold firmly to a Christian worldview and those who don't. Contrast, for example, the belief in the sovereignty of a loving God and belief in the sanctity of all human life with a utilitarian perspective which would make the life of little Eliot expendable. We saw this perspective come to the fore as Sarah Palin was thrust through the media's gauntlet concerning her own decision to have a child with Down Syndrome. I've always wondered how those who don't believe in God deal with traumatic life circumstances like those facing the parents of little Eliot. The difference between believing in God and not believing in Him is ultimately the difference between genuine hope and despair. It doesn't make the pain of loss go away, but it does put it a much larger, eternal perspective which makes it much more tolerable.
A good kick-in-the-gut before work.....
