Max Brantley, executive editor of The Arkansas Times and key Hillary supporter seems to think so.
(And this blog post was written even before Obama swept the two primaries in Wisconsin and Hawaii yesterday, bringing his winning streak to 10).
I bring this blog blurb to you for two reasons: 1.) I think Mr. Brantley's assessment of Hillary's situation is correct (and is becoming more so by the week it seems), and 2.) It's refreshing to see someone get past political biases and see truth for what it is, regardless of whether or not it is self-benefiting. Mr. Brantley is candid about his desire to see Hillary get the Democratic nomination, and yet, he is willing to go public with an equitable evaluation of her campaign based not on his desire, but instead, on the true reality of the situation.
That second point is worth consideration for all of us. How many times are we willing to get past our own biases to examine the world (politics, religion, morality...take your pick) from a balanced and reasonable perspective? To do so not only builds credibility but also promotes increasing civility among those with whom we disagree. We could certainly use a lot more of that.
UPDATE: As we talked about last week, the battle lines are being drawn in Texas as the Hillary Camp erects its defensive bulwarks. Here's more from today's (Thursday) Washington Post.
UPDATE: Not only are they playing defensive, but pro-Clinton forces are going on the offensive with the establishment of the new American Leadership Project, a 527 committee with deep pockets whose goal is to defeat Obama in Ohio and Texas. I thought the Democrats were against 527s after Kerry got swift-boated?
i don't know man, I think she's no-where near down for the count. i know that all the pundits are already calling it over for her, but I just doubt she'll step down this easily.

I think you're exactly right, Andy. It's never over for the Clintons. They have a whole political machine behind them, and though its wheels seem to be coming off, their history (and her ambition) suggest that she will fight to the very end. (Even if it means the implosion of the Democrats in the long run.)
