A University of Florida student, Andrew Meyer, was tasered by university police after his disruption at a speaking event with Sen. John Kerry. After using up his allotted time during the Q & A, his microphone was turned off which upset him considerably. The police attempted to escort him from the room in the midst of considerable resistance. Once they got to the back of the room they then determined it necessary to taser him.
And now the national debate begins over free speech on campus: "Where does freedom of speech end and respect for authority, law and order begin?" That is one of the fundamental questions coming out of this shocking video that has quickly made its way through all the media outlets.
You be the judge. Did the police go too far in tasering young Mr. Meyer or were the justified in their action? And on a larger level, what are reasonable limits on freedom of expression in a culture built on that basic human right?
UPDATE: Here's some brief reaction from Sen. Kerry to the incident.
UPDATE: Questions are already swirling about whether or not this a planned prank. If so, he got what he wanted--his day in the sun, sponsored by your MSM.
UPDATE: The officers involved in the tasing incident have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
I'm not sure if it was warranted, but this guy got exactly what he wanted: A national media frenzy. If you check out this guy's website, and his story, you'll see that this is what he lives for. The taser was icing on the cake. As for the police department, I think they've gotten more than they wanted. Just my thoughts...

does anybody know what the kid was trying to say? or what he was saying? or what the rules for the forum were?
all the focus is on the actual tazing incident, not on what really led up to it, that I can find anyway.
