...as Andy termed it. In trying to get caught up with my blog posting, I'm bringing you the previously scheduled Monday Morning Weekend Review on Tuesday morning (just trying to mix things up...keep you on your toes).
The biggest national news of the week came yesterday morning when Roberto Gonzalez announced his resignation as Attorney General. It really comes as no surprise given that he has been embattled ever since his firings of the eight attorneys. Yet another key Bush staffer to head for the door. Even though this is a more common process for any presidential administration than most people realize, I couldn't help thinking about the phrase from Agatha Christie's classic book, Ten Little Indians, "and then there were none."
Also, Michael Vick has plead guilty to dogfighting. The debate now is first on how long he will be sentenced, but more important to our culture, will he be able to make a comeback?
Is helping others the key to happiness? That's what a new study has found. This revelation about the benefit of service sounds vaguely familiar (Matthew 22:39, Mark 9:35, Philippians 2:3-7, 1 John 3:11-18, etc...).
In other sports news, Patriots QB Tom Brady and former girlfriend Bridget Moynahan welcome their child this past week. (Here's the FOX Sports report.) It will be interesting to see whether having a illegitimate child out of wedlock will sulley his golden boy image. In our culture today? Probably not.
Owen Wilson was hospitalized yesterday after reports that he attempted suicide.
In other oddball news, a man high-dives from 35 feet into 12 inches of water. (Check out the video and other hard-to-believe stories on that site.)
And finally, did you hear about the blind golfer who shot her first hole-in-one? And you thought it was a joke! Until next time...
