bio

John Brockman Crane (M.A., Trinity International University) grew up in the beautiful Midwest and finds life’s journey continually bringing him back here. He and his wife Jean currently live in Indianapolis, Indiana with their four children, Caleb, Andrew, Mark, and Emma.

John is currently the Executive Director of the Sagamore Student Leadership Initiative, an organization dedicated to equipping next-generation leaders to influence our culture for the good.

As a worldview educator and cultural commentator, John has had the opportunity of speaking and teaching on university campuses, in churches, and other venues across the country and around the world. In addition, he spends considerable time writing and blogging on timeless truths and cultural trends, here at The Daily Detour and elsewhere.

Mark-cast 013John's journey has given him the privilege of working for Anchors Away Ministries, a teaching ministry that helps high school and college students learn to live out their Christian faith. In addition, he was an original member of Chuck Colson’s Centurions Program and has continued to teach and be actively involved with subsequent centurion groups. He has also served as both a pastor and an adjunct professor in Indianapolis. In the summer of 2008, John completed a two month apologetics study program in Oxford, England through the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, a partnership between Ravi Zacharias International Ministries and Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University.

Beyond all of this, John's best times are spent with his family--going on all-too-infrequent dates with Jean, wrestling with the boys, and showering kisses on little Emma. As time allows, he also enjoys spending time in the woods, hiking, reading, and working on a variety of writing projects—including a small group curriculum to equip people in understanding and applying the Christian worldview, as well as, a book intended to help those who are struggling with the Christian faith.
