A YouTube video with Bob Parks over at Black & Right was brought to my attention by one of our TDD readers. It is well-worth the 10 minutes of your time it takes to watch it. His perspective as a military veteran on the situation in Iraq raises some critical ideas that warrant serious reflection. (WARNING: Some of the content may be a bit offensive, so proceed with discretion. But, don't let that distract you too much from the premise of his argument.)
Pay attention also to the Fox News video clip posted on Mr. Parks' site in which Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid speaks about the situation in Iraq. As you will see in that clip, Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.) counters with the essential questions for those who would suggest we pull out of Iraq:
Where will they [the Democratic congressional leadership] confront radical, militant Islam? Where will they confront these cold-blooded killers if they are not willing to confront them where they are today?
All political leanings aside, these are the questions we face. In fact, anyone with an opinion on this situation must carefully consider the answer to how we realistically confront a radical Islamic militancy that has no problem murdering their own innocent civilians in the unwavering pursuit of our annihilation. As you've heard me say time and again, this is the clash of civilizations for this generation and those to come. If we choose not to confront it now, then when?
UPDATE: Here's an interesting analysis of two differing perspectives on how the military should be used to confront terror. I also got this cartoon from one of our TDD readers which would be even more humorous if the implications weren't as real as they are.
